It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter/EMT Ferdinando "Freddy" Pierno, Jr. of IAFF Local 2959 - Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics of Martin County, Florida. Brother Pierno, 55, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 due to complications from Hepatitis C.

It is with deepest regreat and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter John McGuirk of IAFF Local 498 - Kingston, Ontario. Brother McGuirk passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2009 from cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighters Kyle W. Perkins, 45, and Cory J. Galloway, 23, of IAFF Local 2996 - Kilgore, Texas. Brothers Perkins and Galloway died on Sunday, January 25, 2009 after falling from their aerial device during a training exercise.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Lieutenant Kevin M. Kelley of IAFF Local 718 – Boston, Massachusetts. Brother Kelley,52, was killed on Friday, January 9, 2009 in an apparatus accident. Three other fire fighters were also injured and hospitalized, but all have now been released. The truck was returning from an emergency call when it struck two other vehicles before going through a brick wall and into the front of an apartment building.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Francis "Frank" J. Quetta of IAFF Local 799 - Providence, Rhode Island. Brother Quetta, 60, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Gary V. Stephens of IAFF Local 777 – Elizabeth, New Jersey. Brother Stephens, 57, was killed early Saturday morning after being struck by a fire truck during a backing operation after he slipped on ice. He was an acting Captain operating at an arson fire in an abandoned building that spread to an occupied home. The suspected arsonist, a homeless man that was living in the unoccupied building, has been arrested and charged. Brother Stephens was the Vice President of Local 777 and is survived by his wife Natalie.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Roger K. Duke of IAFF Local 452 - Vancouver, Washington. Brother Duke, 61, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2009 from brain cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Lieutenant Robert J. Ryan of IAFF Local 854 - New York Uniformed Fire Officers Association. Brother Ryan, 46, passed away on Sunday morning, November 23, 2008 from injuries sustained from a ceiling collapse while operating at a second alarm fire.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Paramedic Penny Ruth Allen-Sheldrake of IAFF Local 1619 - Prince George's County, Maryland. Sister Allen-Sheldrake, 49, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2008 from cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Daniel L. Stetz of IAFF Local 642 - Fargo, North Dakota. Brother Stetz, 47, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2008 from occupational cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Walter P. Harris of IAFF Local 344 - Detroit, Michigan. Brother Harris, 37, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2008 from a roof collapse while fighting a fire at an abandoned house. Four other fire fighters were hospitalized with minor injuries and one was released.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain Patrick Glendinning of IAFF Local 1271 - Surrey, British Columbia. Brother Glendinning, 57, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2008 from esophageal cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Jamel M. Sears of IAFF Local 94, New York, New York. Brother Sears, 33, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 following completion of a training exercise at the training academy.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter John Clasby of IAFF Local 1657 - Hull, Massachusetts. Brother Clasby passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 from traumatic injuries incurred while fighting a fire on June 29, 1999.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain Gary Henry of IAFF Local 416-Indianapolis, Indiana. Brother Henry, 34, was a Sergeant with the 38th Military Police stationed in Iraq. He was killed by a roadside bomb on Sunday, August 3, 2008.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain Peter C. Stewart of IAFF Local 114 - Butler, Pennsylvania. Brother Stewart passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2008 from occupational cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of District Chief Robert I. Leek of IAFF Local 3888 - Toronto, Ontario. Brother Leek, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2008. He collapsed while with crews that battled a seven-alarm fire and evacuated civilians after a propane depot explosion.

Brother Hummert, 22, died on Monday, July 21, 2008 as a result of wounds received after being shot by a gunman while responding to a car fire.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Assistant Chief James E. Jarrell of IAFF Local 4066 – Irondale, Alabama. Brother Jarrell, 70, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2008 of lung cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Terrence “Terry” A. Graham of IAFF Local 771 – Saint John, New Brunswick. Brother Graham, 50, was a member of the local’s executive board. He passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2008 of a massive heart attack after just getting off duty.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Rickey S. Morris of IAFF Local 823 - Sedalia, Missouri. Brother Morris, 54, died on Thursday, April 17, 2008 from burns he sustained while fighting a dwelling fire last week.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Keith D. Dawson of IAFF Local 1505 – Flagstaff, Arizona. Brother Dawson, 57, died on Thursday, April 10, 2008 from occupational cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Apparatus Operator Jay R. Walter of IAFF Local 1227 – Berkeley, California. Brother Walter, 55, died on Sunday, April 6, 2008 of pancreatic cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain Robin M. Broxterman of IAFF Local 3915 - Colerain Township, Ohio. Sister Broxterman, 37, died on Friday, April 4, 2008 when she fell through the floor while operating at a house fire.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Brent A. Lovrien of IAFF Local 112 – Los Angeles City, California. Brother Lovrien died on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 of injuries sustained in an explosion.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Lieutenant Donald M. Quinlan of IAFF Local 1009 - Worcester, Massachusetts. Brother Quinlan died on Saturday, March 22, 2008 from injuries sustained at a fire on New Year’s Eve.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain John P. Delaney of IAFF Local 2260 - Mesa, Arizona. Brother Delaney, 44, died on Monday, March 17, 2008 of a heart attack while on duty.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Lieutenant Robert T. Kilduff, Sr. (known affectionately as Bob, Bobby, or "BK") who was the Vice President of IAFF Local 718 - Boston, Massachusetts and the Legislative Representative of the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts. Brother Kilduff passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2008 from occupational cancer.
 

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain Matthew P. Moore of IAFF Local 3540 - Murrieta, California. Brother Moore, 43, a 17-year veteran of the Murrieta Fire Department, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2008 from complications of meningitis.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Apparatus Operator A. Shepherd Pfister of IAFF Local 1374 - Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. Brother Pfister, 51, died on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 of cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Lieutenant Rafael Vazquez of IAFF Local 2928 - Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics of Palm Beach County, Florida. Brother Vazquez, 42, died on Monday, March 3, 2008 of a homicide while on a break from a mandatory training class for newly-promoted officers.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Apparatus Operator Roger Dennis, Jr. of IAFF Local 624 - San Antonio, Texas. Brother Dennis, 55, died of cardiac arrest on Friday, February 29, 2008.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Lieutenant Jay L. Ervin of IAFF Local 655 - Bradford, Pennsylvania. Brother Ervin, 50, died on Saturday, March 1, 2008 from kidney and bone cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Todd Stanaway of IAFF Local 1279 - Westland, Michigan. Brother Stanaway, 35, died on Sunday, February 24, 2008 from brain cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Joseph M. Farrell of IAFF Local 520 - Rochester, Minnesota. Brother Farrell, 41, died on Friday, February 22, 2008 from cancer.


 

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain Donald W. Hubbel of IAFF Local 964, Baltimore Fire Officers Association, Baltimore, Maryland. Brother Hubbel, 42, died on Friday, February 1, 2008 of a heart attack, less than 24 hours after training at the fire academy.

 It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Battalion Chief James H. Scragg of IAFF Local 2898, Seattle Fire Chiefs, Seattle, Washington. Brother Scragg, 54, died on Thursday, January 17, 2008 of occupational lung cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Richard L. Besse of IAFF Local 718 - Boston, Massachusetts. Brother Besse, 61, died on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 of cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Lieutenant Vincent P. Russell of IAFF Local 718 - Boston, Massachusetts. Brother Russell died on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 from injuries sustained at a fire on Thursday, January 3, 2008. He was laid to rest on Monday, January 14, 2008. It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Firefighter/Paramedic Louis "Lou" P. Berra of IAFF Local 2665 -- West County EMS and Fire Protection District, Missouri. Brother Berra, 49, died on Friday, January 18, 2008 while on duty. The cause of death is under investigation.

 It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Hazmat Officer Gregory M. Allen of IAFF Local 557 - Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Brother Allen, 37, died on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 from cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Apparatus Operator/Driver Jarrett A. Dixon of IAFF Local 1311 - Baltimore County, Maryland. Brother Dixon, 36, died on Saturday, January 12, 2008 of a heart attack.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Michael Gordon Swetnam of IAFF Local 999 – Moncton, New Brunswick. Brother Swetnam, 60, died on Sunday, January 13, 2008 of cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain James L. Robeson of IAFF Local 60 - Scranton, Pennsylvania. Brother Robeson, 50, died on Sunday morning, January 6, 2008 of electrocution while fighting a fire.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter William J. "Billy" McCarthy, Jr., of IAFF Local 718-Boston, Massachusetts. Brother McCarty, 55, died on Friday, January 4, 2008 from cancer.

Brother Martinson, 40, died on Thursday, January 3, 2008 from smoke inhalation/burns while responding to a Brooklyn high-rise fire.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Lieutenant Alex John Keepers of IAFF Local 3756 – Loudoun County, Virginia. Brother Keepers died on Monday, December 31, 2007 in a vehicle accident.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter John Jacob Curry of IAFF Local 3574 - Volusia County, Florida. Brother Curry, 30, died on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 from a training accident.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Assistant Chief Randall “Randy” Dale Mantle of IAFF Local 3904 – Southern Missouri Professional Fire Fighters. Chief Mantle, 43, died on Sunday, November 18, 2007 from Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Fire Fighter Peter Drummond of IAFF Local 1782 - Coquitlam, British Columbia. Brother Drummond, 52, died on Monday, November 19, 2007 from colorectal cancer.

 It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain William A. Jordan of IAFF Local 2068 - Fairfax County, Virginia. Brother Jordan, 57, died on Thursday, November 22, 2007 from lung cancer.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Senior Fire Fighter Michael J. Tluscik, Sr. of IAFF Local 64 – Kansas City, Kansas. Brother Tluscik, 48, died on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 after collapsing at the fire station upon returning from a call.
